From ski-mac, snowcrest to St. croix national

With scenery this gorgeous, it makes sense the grounds of St. Croix National have been home to a lot of outdoor recreation over the years.

A Ski Hill Is Born

The golf course was built around what was once known as Snowcrest Ski Hill. Thousands of skiers have stories to tell about the terrain within minutes from Stillwater. It closed in 1983, but perhaps it will be reborn...

1996

St. Croix National golf

Designed by Joel Goldstrand

Goldstrand grew up in Minnesota and after eight years on the PGA tour and as a head professional at Minneapolis Golf Club, he designed more than 100 courses. Some of the best-known are Bunker Hills, Eagle Valley, Ridges at Sand Creek and Grand View Lodge courses.


Designing St. Croix National was no easy task. The terrain was difficult as elevations are extreme. Over many years, we had many visits from Joel stopping by and look forward to enhancing his design in the next several years.
